چکیده

Background Several surface based multi-segment foot models have been developed to investigate distal foot function during gait [1,2]. However, the majority of the models have not defined medial and lateral forefoot or midfoot segments. In addition very little, is currently known regarding the coupling of the distal foot segments [3,4]. The purpose of the current study, therefore, was to utilize a six foot segment model that includes both medial and lateral forefoot and midfoot segments to quantify the coupling between the distal foot segments during walking gait.

Movement coordination patterns between the foot joints during walking

Background In 3D gait analysis, kinematics of the foot joints are usually reported via isolated time histories of joint rotations and no information is provided on the relationship between rotations at different joints. The aim of this study was to identify movement coordination patterns in the foot during walking by expanding an existing vector coding technique according to an established mult...

اثرات آنی کفی طبی پیش‌ساخته بر تغییرپذیری و الگوی کوپلینگ مفصلی پشت پا و ساق حین راه رفتن مردان فعال مبتلا به کف پای صاف

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the immediate effects of pre-made foot orthotics on rear-foot and tibia variability and joint coupling patterns during stance phase of gait in male athletes with pes planus. Methods: Subjects of this semi-experimental research included 8 active men with pes planus. Kinematic gait data of these subjects were recorded by a motion analysis...

A Multi-segment Foot Model Based on In-vivo and In-vitro Stereophotogrammetric Studies and Clinical Theories of Dynamic Foot Function: Walking Gait Reliability

Studies investigating walking gait have traditionally either modeled the foot as a single rigid segment, or as a rearfoot segment. While these studies have improved the understanding of foot function during gait, they assume the joints distal to the calcaneus do not contribute significantly to foot function. Recent, in-vitro [1] and invasive in-vivo [2] studies, however, suggest that significan...

Changes in joint coupling and variability during walking following tibialis posterior muscle fatigue

BACKGROUND The tibialis posterior muscle is believed to play a key role in controlling foot mechanics during the stance phase of gait. However, an experiment involving localised tibialis posterior muscle fatigue, and analysis of discrete rearfoot and forefoot kinematic variables, indicated that reduced force output of the tibialis posterior muscle did not alter rearfoot and forefoot motion duri...

Coordination among the rearfoot, midfoot, and forefoot during walking

BACKGROUND Examining coordination between segments is essential for prevention and treatment of injuries. However, traditional methods such as ratio, cross-correlation technique, and angle-time plot may not provide a complete understanding of intersegmental coordination. The present study aimed to quantify the coordination among the rearfoot, midfoot, and forefoot segments during walking. MET...
